I was all set on running Tuesday night but 2 minutes into my run, rain started pouring! :s I had to go back home and call it a rest day. So while the thunder rolled, I curled up and started reading the 'Okuribito'/'Departures' comic book I bought last weekend. The film is the Academy Award® Winner for Best Foreign Language Film this year. I have yet to watch it though. Since I cannot read all the Japanese characters, I depended a lot on the drawings. Take a peek:
So while I rested my body and exercised my mental muscles last night, this morning I had the crave to run. Since I started running at the beginning of the month, I have never tried daytime running. While I felt a bit slower with today's 3-miler, it was still a good run. Plus, I got to watch the sunrise and spotted these hydrangeas that are in bloom all over Japan in June.
Do you like running in the rain? I've read about some people who do so and I am in awe. I'd like to try that one of these days, even for a short run. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. :)
Also, do you prefer day/night runs? Based on today's run, I'd still prefer my evening runs. I'd still do morning runs whenever I am up early to mix up my routine a bit.

I like to run in the morning because I am a morning person, but my best runs happen to the weekend when it is not TOO early in the morning :)
ReplyDeleteI never run in the rain because I have a treadmill haha. I know, I'm a total wimp, I admit it.
Running in the rain can be fun, but not like pouring rain...a light drizzle :) and don't forget to watch out for puddles!
ReplyDeleteI'm a little weird when it comes to time of day - there's nothing better than an early Saturday morning long run. LOVE those. However, during the week, forget it. It's after work or it's not happening haha. If I didn't have to work, I'd go running at 10am every day.
Try running at a few different times during the day and see when you feel your best :)
I prefer morning runs right out of bed to refresh my mind and body. It sets me off in a good mood for the rest of the day!
ReplyDeleteWhen I did track, we ran, whether rain or shine. I came to really appreciate running in the rain now, and really love the hot shower after!
Hi Mia! Next time, try to push the rain - it SUCKS at first but once you stick with it, you will start to LOVE running in the rain!!! The first few minutes are always pretty bad though, haha.
ReplyDeleteToday I gave myself 45-60 mins before I ran after eating. Sometimes longer if I eat more, or less if I eat less. Whatever works for your body! And afterward the same thing goes. If you are running very far distances I would suggest taking in some protein, but if you are running shorter distances I think it's fine to eat when you are hungry!
Kelly: Haha, I'm a wimp too! :D
ReplyDeleteKarena: I'd like to try one of those Saturday morning long runs. Sounds great.
burpandslurp: Oooh, hot shower after a run in rain sounds tempting!
Val: I'll give it a try one of these days. Thanks for the tip on eating before/after running. Last night, I had half a portion of my dinner before my 4 mile run and had the other half after.
I went walking in the rain yesterday. It was good when I started to work up a sweat. :-) I love exercising in any kind of weather.
